You started your business with every intention of being successful, but it’s just not happening. Everything should be coming up roses, but all you’re getting is the thorns. What might be holding you back from making the money you deserve?

1. Failure to believe that you can make money: Believing that you are unable to make money or that you are unworthy of the money you receive lowers your profits. If you don’t believe that you can do it, that attitude becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Conversely, if you believe that you can, opportunities to make money online will present themselves.

2. Failure to define success: There are many definitions of success. Do you want to make more money than your friends do at their online businesses? Do you want the freedom of mobility that comes with setting up an online venture? If you’re not receiving encouragement from your online venture, then you’re probably not making the money either.

3. Failure to enjoy your work: If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing to make money, then you should look for other avenues. Someone who isn’t passionate about the business itself is more prone to miss opportunities when they arise. You should start your day with the lessons learned from the day before and end it with no regrets.

4. Failure to realize that your online business is a scam: There are many online money making opportunities which are scams. Unwittingly signing up for a scam is not a sign of failure or a symbol of your self worth. In this type of venture, you are making money for other people and not yourself.

5. Failure to charge enough for your work or product: After having your online business for a while, you get a general idea of how much you are selling. If you know that your competition is selling an equivalent product for more money, there is an advantage to raising your price. Customers will pay more for your products if they believe they’re getting value from them.

6. Failure to manage your time: Are you spending all of your time reading forums and trying to build links? There are places to which you can outsource your menial tasks. To better manage your time, set a schedule of the activities that you want to do and check back frequently to stay on track.

7. Failure to evaluate progress: Do you know which campaigns for your site are working and which ones aren’t? What generates the most page views? Assessment is an essential part of running a business. Take the time to get a good, hard look at where your money is coming from.

8. Failure to take breaks: Factory workers get paid a lot of money because the business owners realize that there is monotony in the job. You may not have the luxury of going to a different position, but you can choose what you want to do. Play a video game, read a book, just take a break and then come back refreshed.

9. Failure to put in the work: This reason for failure comes from the opposite end of the spectrum. If you’re not willing to put the hours into your job, then who is? Breaking your job down into manageable tasks may help you keep a focus on what needs to be done.

10. Failure to have a game plan: To make a business successful, you have to know the total process of how the business works. How is your company going to adapt if there is a global economic depression? How does your business model accommodate the unhappy customer? How are you going to market your business? These questions go into the creation of a successful plan. Having a plan better equips you to make more money.

Online money making is just like making money in the physical world. There are definitely not as many overnight internet successes as the advertisements would have you believe. You have to put in the time, attitude, passion and effort to make it a successful business.
