I can fully understand that people want to set up a blog or blogs in order to start blogging and to earn some money but I would highly recommend that you take the opportunity to learn from your blogging activities.

There are so many ways that you can learn new methods of internet marketing from your blog along with a lot more about the subject that you are blogging about. You will find that as you write your blog posts you will start to write far quicker than you ever imagined as well actually improving you vocabulary.

Rather than just setting up a blog and posting to it every so often you really could find that your blog is teaching you far more than you could ever have imagined, not sure how to install an autoresponder? Try it out on your blog. What about changing the headers on your blog, you guessed it, change it on your wordpress blog. All of these things are extremely simple anyway but you won’t know that until you have done them yourself.

When it comes to learning as well as earning from your blog I have an interesting story. I have a friend who identified that there was a demand for a blog on fly fishing but the only thing was, she didn’t know anything about fly fishing.

Not one to let a little thing like that stop her, she set up a blog on fly fishing and started making posts on it and promoting it in all of the usual ways. She learned more and more about fly fishing without even trying, and before long she found that she knew the difference between the different types of rod and reels as well as a wealth of other information. After a couple of months she had an idea to write an ebook on a specific type of fly fishing which she put together in the space of a week along with a small report to offer the readers of her blog to capture their email addresses.

On release of the ebook she made a considerable sum over the course of a couple of days and when you consider that it was only a few weeks earlier that she didn’t know a thing about fly fishing. She has learned from that single blog, a multitude of other things, from fly fishing to the marketing of the blog to the production and sale of an ebook. All from that one blog.

She obviously did earn from that blog but the amount that she learned will be far more beneficial to her over a period of time. She now knows that she can go into any market that she chooses, create a blog and just from researching online she will be able to create a product which she will be able to market to that niche.

So please take notice when I tell you that you should definitely be blogging to learn and not just to earn!
