Unless you have quality Blog Plugins & Pings on your WordPress Blog you simply don’t have a successful Blog as they are the ultimate backbone in any online Blog. I was one of the late developers when it came to Pings and Plugins but since I have learnt which ones are the best and which should be avoided like the plague my Blog has come on in leaps and bounds.
Best of all Blog Plugins & Pings require very little long term effort and once they have been set up correctly you can watch them work for you time and time again without giving it a second thought.

Blog Plugins
Firstly here are the top Blog Plugins that you should be using on your Blog. To use them simply hit the download link, click save as and upload them to the Plugins area of your Blog control panel. Then once you have done you will need to extract them and then set them up via your WordPress Plugins area. Ocassionally you will need to update them but this is not very often.
All In One SEO Pack - This is my favourite blog plugin and I simply can’t live without it. Many people just install it and then leave it and not actually use it. What it does is allow you to have your blog title, description and keywords in each post and help you along the way in your search engine optimisation.
Auto Hyperlink Urls - This improves your default WordPress settings to make clickable functions an absolute breeze and explode your configuration settings to a new level at the same time.
Brians Threaded Comments - This gives you a threaded comment along with a wandering comment and is a brilliant asset to your Blog.
Chicklet Creator - This allows the opportunity for others to subscribe to your RSS feed quickly and easily. It also allows you the choice of what you want to display or keep hidden.
Google SiteMap - This will create a Google SiteMap onto your Blog to help with your SEO. There are many different versions of this available but this one works best for me.
No Duplicate Comments - This stops people from spamming you on your Blog. It will instantly tell you if anyone has left a duplicate comment for you and will allow your Blog to keep its quality.
Permalink Migration - This allows you to change the Permalink structure on your Blog without breaking any old links.
Post Teaser - This allows you to tease your viewers with a snipet of your post with a link for them to find out more.
Similar Posts - This Plugin brings up a range of similar posts based on keywords or formats used in your posts.
Simple Tags - This Plugin is great if you are a fan of Technorati as it adds extra traffic for free. Whenever they search Technorati they will find you.
Sociable – This Plugin allows people the opportunity to add your posts to different communities. If someone clicks on one of the sociable networks below your listing they are advertising the link to your post to others on the internet.
Statistics – This is a fantastic Plugin that allows you the option to have advanced knowledge of your statistics. You can even find out where your traffic came from.
Subscribe To Posts - This is a fantastic Plugin to get repeat readers to your Blogs. Whenever they comment on a listing they will have the opportunity to subscribe. Once they have subscribed they will be informed whenever someone else comments on this particular post. This then reels them in and will bring them back for more.
Tweet Me Me – Now this another blog plugin that I simply can not live without. If you want viral marketing it doesn’t get any better than this. It will allow the readers to retweet every post that you have and all you have to do is install the button.
Ultimate Tag Warrior - This allows you the opportunity to add a tag cloud in the sidebar on your Blog. This way when people view your Blog they can see which are the most popular keywords that have been used and learn more about you.
Welcome Your Visitors - This adds a welcome message to your RSS feed that encourages your readers to sign up to your feed.

Socarates – A very good blog theme and very reasonably priced. Currently used on this blog!
http://www.wibiya.com/ – I love this site and it is great for spreading your name via social media and viral marketing. It is completely free of charge and will get your blog heard on several levels.

Secondly Blog Pings can not be forgotten about as they are your way of telling the world I have just posted on my Blog and I would like you to read it. I think of it as my announcer with the search engines and since I increased my list my traffic and Google positions have seriously improved.
All you have to do to set it up is head over to your WordPress Settings and on the general setting copy and paste the following list and you are all set:
