Christmas holiday sales slump is it a myth?

We are all told in the internet marketing world to take a break over Christmas and New Year because our sales will be at there lowest therefore there is no need to work. I have often thought in a similar manner in the past but at the same time I haven’t made much of an effort either.

This Christmas though I decided to keep the business going at a similar standard so that I could experiment a bit with it. My advertisements would just be turned off during Christmas Day and I would see how the levels compared. I also decided to do an Ezine advertisement to go out on Christmas Day just to see if it was possible though I was pretty scared of it bombing dramatically.

My traffic and sales continued at there usual rate right up until Christmas though on Christmas Eve it went rather slow. I put this down to the amount of my customers are men and stereotyping that they would be buying Christmas presents last minute as so many do.

Late on Christmas Eve night when I was fed up because the Christmas Day television wasn’t up to scratch I logged in to my email account and was shocked by my email inbox level. I had more than 1,000 emails since checking them the day before and 85% of them was Aweber notices of new subscribers and sales through one time offers or upsells. This was all Christmas Day traffic and I found it alarming that so many people would be online buying products on a day that normally involves booze and eating way too much rubbish!

As not everyone has read their email on Christmas Day the sales and sign ups continued at an alarming rate through to the following Monday (28th December). I felt that because people weren’t at work they were taking more time to read their emails and had time for me and my products.

Others could have just hit that moment when they thought it’s nearly another year has passed me by – I was to take action with my business right now!

You have to remember that you have a huge selection of customers out there that want your products or services Christmas or not they are still waiting for you! If you are in the diet niche there will never be a better time to hit the nail on the head.

Because I have a lot of products in the make money online niche I find that the new year is the perfect time to bring out new products. People have realised that they have huge credit card bills to pay and they are looking for a way out of the jobs they hate.

By offering a solution to their problems we have a hungry market waiting for us. As far as I am concerned Christmas holiday slump is a myth. It’s a case of making sure that you have the products to offer to your market at the right time. Once you have solved this dilemma the money is sat there waiting for you.
