Creating Auto Responders with Hostgator

"autoresponder"An auto responder is a pre-written email that is set to be sent from a specific email address when email is sent to it. You’ve probably gotten many auto responders on your email over the years, especially when you email “support” for a business or website. There are other instances when auto responders can be helpful though. If you’re out of town, you can set up an auto responder to reply to everyone who emails you website email address to let them know that. Or, if you have some kind of support on your website, you can set up an auto responder to let people know you’re looking into their issue after they email you.

It’s very quick and easy to set up an auto responder using Hostgators cPanel. First, sign into your cPanel and then scroll down to the section titled “mail.” Then you’ll want to click on the icon that’s titled “auto responders.”

"frontpage autoresponders"

This will take you to the auto responders main page. The page contains a little bit of information about auto responders, and also allows you to choose which domain you’ll be managing. You can also see any auto responders you’ve created in the past and edit or delete them. To start creating your auto responder, click on the button that says “add auto responder.”

"autoresponder main page"

This will take you to a page that allows you to enter text for your auto responder. You can also set the dates you want your auto responder to be used on. So, if you want the auto responder to always be sent from your specific email address, you would click on start: immediately, and stop: never. However, if you want to set specific dates, click on custom and enter the dates.

Once you’re done creating your auto responder and setting the dates, take a minute to edit and proofread your writing. You don’t want your auto responder going out with an unnoticed typo. After you’re happy with what you have and you’ve filled in all the required fields, click the button at the bottom that says “create/modify.”

"create an autoresponder"

If you’ve filled everything in, you will see a page that looks like this:"autoresponder created"

If you haven’t filled in all the required fields, a popup will show, telling you what information you need to add.
