If I was to name one kind of tactic for driving traffic that at the same time can have a serious impact on my SEO it would have to be article writing. Article writing is free and no matter what niche I am in I always start my campaign with some articles along with a fantastic call of action at the end of the article.

If you visit online internet marketing forums such as the warrior forum and have a good look around the main topic of conversation is always article writing. I know this because I have replied to , too many peoples questions about generating quality articles and then getting the best results from them.

Therefore I thought I would share with the perfect 5 step plan so that you can start driving traffic using article writing.

1. Choose the keywords that you wish to focus on before you even write a single word of your article. Long tail keywords are easier to target and you can have the full long tail keyword as your title making it even easier to feature on Google. For example instead of going for “blog traffic” write a title and go for the keyword “how to increase blog traffic fast”. Then you can structure your article around this keyword and write a good quality article covering the key points of the title.

2. Get your keyword into your article to give you an amazing keyword density. This still has to look natural though as you don’t want to come across as a keyword spammer. So include it at the beginning of the title, first line of the body, once in the middle and then again in the finishing paragraph.

3. Don’t give too much away in the actual article as then people will not need to click through to your link at the end of the article. You want people to visit your website and if the information is good your article should flow through so that visiting your link at the end is a natural step. Don’t make your article too long or bland so that people get bored as this would provide a bad result in click thorough rates.

4. Your call of action should be fantastic and make people want to visit you. There is no point just telling people to visit your Blog and then offering the link as there is no value in this to the reader. You have to tell them that you will solve their problem and this link is their soul mate.

The other major point to make is that you need to have an achor text in your article bio as this creates a backlink through to your website. This is common practice these days but whenever I visit article directories people just don’t seem to bother with it which is such a shame. You need a clickable link with your main keyword to get visitors to click through and visit.

For example I would use “make money online” as a link rather than please visit: http://www.dsm-publishing.co.uk. However you can plan it so that you are doing more than one link in a single bio for example this is one I regularly use:

As you can see from the above example there are six clickable backlinks in the above bio each adding to the traffic of the article and helping with the SEO at the same time. If you didn’t use anchor text there is no way you could fit it in.

5. Now once your article is published you want to follow killer methods that will bring you in amazing traffic results. My personal favourite method that is completely free to do is by using free press release sites to tell people that you have submitted this wonderful article. You can then use the backlinks to point at the article bring you traffic from several sources at once. It is a known fact that with press releases many people will submit them to their different sites giving you more and more exposure.

I have seen badly written press releases generate over 500 click throughs when many articles that have high quality content get just 50 so think about it before you pass up on writing a press release.

You can then follow this up with social media posting your article to your twitter followers, FaceBook group and then social bookmark it. Because you have made an effort with your backlinks you will then be on your way to your article appearing in Google giving you the long term traffic drive that your article needs.
