How to make money from your blog

If you are wondering how to make money from your blog there really are a number of ways that you can achieve this.

To begin with I would always recommend that you register a domain name for your blog and host it on your own hosting account, this way you are in complete control and your blog will not be removed for some unknown reason.

When registering a domain name I would try and include a search term within the name and make sure that people are using that search term in the search engines.

Let me explain, say for instance that you want to put up a blog about dog training and during your research you discover that the phrase ‘great dog training tips’ is getting a couple of thousand searches per month and that the domain name GreatDogTrainingTips.com is available then you will find that you are on a winner before you start, as you will receive a good amount of free traffic from the domain name alone.

You will be surprised how many names like this are available and it just takes a little patience to find them.

We now need to put some content on the blog so a 300 to 500 word article will give us a good start. We then have the option of putting some google adsense advertising on the page which will ensure we receive a payment whenever someone clicks on one of the advertisements. Just go to google and sign up for an adsense account and they have a step by step guide showing you how to place the adds on your site, it’s very easy and is just a matter of copying and pasting a piece of code.

Another option is to place recommendations for a product or service whose affiliate programme you are promoting. This method differs from google adsense  in that you only get paid when someone actually makes a purchase after clicking on you affiliate link but in many cases the payments you will receive are far higher.

When promoting an affiliate programme is is sometimes tempting to just put up a banner advert which admittedly looks good but I can assure you that you will be far more successful if you just include a text link in the middle of some informative content which describe the product that you are advertising.

It is then just a matter of adding fresh content to the blog on a regular basis and before you know it you will have a number of pages with each one capable of generating money for you.
