I don’t know what it is about link exchanges but I would much rather give it a miss and concentrate on other methods in which to promote my websites and blogs. I sincerely believe, as with anything in life, that you get out of it what you put in and to me, link exchanges don’t really offer anyone any benefits apart from the people that are exchanging links, and I believe that at some point they will not be as anywhere near as effective as they are now, and when that point comes, all of the work that goes into these link exchanges will be a waste of time.

I would much rather concentrate on other methods for my promotions, methods that actually offer something of quality to the visitors to my blogs and websites. I personally like article marketing, articles that are written in a way that actually offer advice, that is. Not some of the rubbish that you see floating around that have obviously been written by someone who is being paid to write as many articles in a short space of time as they can. The only requirement of these articles is that they are stuffed with keywords.

Can’t these people see that the likes of Google are not stupid. They have advanced systems in place which can spot articles like this as well as some of these links that are obtained from link exchanges for that matter. The mantra of Google these days is that websites that offer quality information to their visitors will rank far more highly than websites that are only built with keyword filled rubbish in order to rank highly. The recent Mayday slap as it is now being called, has only gone on to confirmed this and also that it is not just the quality of the website but also the quality of the promotional methods used which are also being scrutinized.

Back to my dislike of link exchanges, there are more effective promotional methods out there as well as the article marketing that I have just mentioned. What about social media? Twitter, used in the correct way is one of the most powerful methods that I know of, to get traffic to your blog, YouTube videos, that’s another great one. I would much rather go down these routes as opposed to going to a link exchange.

The thing is, many people are attracted to link exchanges because it is quick but you will find that once some of the other methods have actually been set up they are far quicker to use and as already mentioned, far more effective.

As a link exchange has a very low barrier to entry you will find that the masses will always choose this option. Setting up a Twitter account for example, although very easy, means that people will actually have to do something that involves thinking and learning. This sets these methods apart from the link exchanges and the like, which means that they will be far more effective both now and in the future.
