I first started using Odesk.com about a year ago for my outsourcing needs as it has a huge following so is always there to provide you with the biggest channel for finding worthwhile outsourcers. At first everything went fine and for every job that I have advertised on Odesk I have received over 600 applicants so I always given fantastic choice. This also meant that I could get outsourcers at a quarter of the price that you would pay thr0ugh more American style sites such as Elance.com.

After hiring a few go0d workers I then experienced a few bad ones, for example I hired someone to make changes to this blog and they failed to do it – in fact I needed to pay someone else to fix what they had created. So it actually ended up costing me double!!!

Then as my team grew so did my weekly wage bill, when I joined them they promised me that for all business owners that generate more than $500 a week are entitled to pay by PayPal and direct deposit into my account and as soon as I reached this level I contacted them and surprise surprise it was no longer available.

This meant that as a lot of my wages took over a month to clear I had to pay for my wages four weeks before they reached my bank account. Also I needed to use PayPal because I often have accounts that have several hundred dollars in working capitail available to them at any one time.

My weekly bill had now hit $700+ per week of which they were making $70 each and every week for doing absolutely nothing something that I was far from happy in doing. Then they decided that my Visa Debit Card wasn’t allowed!!!

So, I thought to myself – they need my money more than I need their service and as my staff is paid on fixed contract there was really no need to keep it going. So I finally quit Odesk because put simply because the whole time I was with they did absolutely nothing for me apart from advertise a job.

So I will keep a spare account just for advertising for staff and then I will keep the staff private. I have the benefit of a fantastic team leader so I am sure business will run smoothly again without having to w0rry about what payment method I am using or the customer service of my hosts.

If a company charges you 10% like they have been me – remember you don’t have to stay with a company that simply do0esn’t deserve your business.
