What a joint venture is really like
A joint venture really can make you a great deal of money within a short period of time but what is a joint venture really like? If you are not familiar with a joint venture is is where you approach someone with an established presence in the niche that you wish to promote to, and ask them if they will promote your product or service to their list.
When you consider that some people have lists of many thousands of subscribers you can imagine how profitable a successful joint venture can be and also the fact that many of the people in these lists have built up a trusting relationship with the list owner, only goes to add more value to the promotion.
There are some facts that you need to take on board though. Some of the so called internet marketing gurus with large lists will happily accept a joint venture and promote to their list of 500,000 subscribers, the only problem is that they have milked that list several times a week for the past year and the people on the list are basically sick of hearing about the latest product that the list owner is telling them that they simply must buy.
Another thing to bear in mind is that anyone that you ask to do a joint venture with is not very likely to do it out of the goodness of their heart. They will want a share of any sales and quite often you are not looking at a small percentage or even 50%, 70% of any sales is not unusual so if you do go for it make sure there is enough profit in it for you.
I hope I haven’t put you off because it is still possible to get some cracking joint venture deals but I would recommend carrying out a little research first. To start with you should join the list of your potential joint venture partners and you will then be able to see if they are the kind of people that you wish to get involved with. Do they promote everything under the sun or are they selective.
When you have narrowed it down you should send them a copy of your product and if it is downloadable I would not worry to much about offering the 50% or 60% of the sales. After all, it is better that you earn 40% of 100 sales rather than 10% of 5 sales.
If your joint venture partner will allow it you should always use an email capture facility to collect the details of people who are interested in your offer but don’t make a purchase. You will be aware of the saying, the money is in the list, so if you can also get some subscribers out of the deal and that will make the joint venture deal even sweeter.
So, carry out your research and bear in mind that someone with a smaller, well looked after list will yield far better results than a massive list that is endlessly promoted to with a load of old rubbish.
