What Companies Really Use Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is often seen as a trendy form of marketing which only applies to companies who are best described as being on the arty side but I can assure you that if viral marketing is carried out in an appropriate way you will often find that the results are fantastic and it really will work for any business

There are many ways to implement viral marketing and the are many great examples of companies who really use viral marketing in a successful way. One example that springs to mind is Hotmail. When someone sends an email from their Hotmail account the actual email offers many opportunities to sign up for a Hotmail account and you only have to realise how many of these types of emails are sent out on a daily basis and you really can see the amazing potential of viral marketing.

You will also find that many companies use YouTube for their viral marketing campaigns. They know only to well that if they are able to put an an entertaining video on YouTube which gets people talking they will be on to a winner because this video will then go viral which will increase brand awareness more than you could possibly imagine.

There are many examples of companies that have gone down this route so I will list a few if my favourites who have run highly successful viral campaigns.

Ray Ban. This one is a perfect example of what can be achieved. The video comprises of two people who are having Ray Ban sunglasses thrown at them from every direction and each time these  glasses are landing perfectly. When you are watching this video you will more than likely be able to think of  friends who would find this video amusing so you would simply send them a link. These friends will more than likely do the same thing for their friends and before you know it, thousands and thousand of people have viewed the video. Absolutely fantastic!

Levis. Just to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on a viral video, take a look at the Levi production where a group of men are jumping into Levi jeans. They are jumping off walls and all sorts of other obstacles, straight into a pair of Levi jeans. The same thing applies here as to the Ray Ban video. You will instantly think of people who will find this kind of video interesting, so you send them a link and it starts all over again.

Guitar Hero. These viral videos on You Tube are a little different in that they promote the product, but many of them have been put together by individuals, usually individuals who are very good at playing Guitar Hero. When you look at the number of views that some of these Guitar Hero videos have you can see the potential, and those of you who have something to promote such as your own product or an affiliate programme, can surely see the many opportunities that viral marketing has to offer.

  1. Levis is KILLING it. I find it nuts that 3 years ago no body thought all this FB and twitter would help businesses. But now you watch commercials on TV and they are sending people to their facebook and twitter pages!

It’s really surprising. It shows that at least right now, social media presense truly is a form of equity.

Keep doing the company profiles, samantha!
