Affiliate marketing is appealing to so many people.  I remember 3 years ago when I first started learning SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Internet marketing.  It appeals to so many people because you can work from home and essentially make money in your sleep.

However, you have probably heard that a million times before, but there is a huge learning curve you need to go through if you want to make it as a successful affiliate marketer.  In fact, if you have a 9-5 currently and are new to Internet marketing I encourage you to take the time to learn SEO and affiliate marketing, as you work your way out of you job.

What really helped me when learning SEO and affiliate marketing was to go slow.  Don’t try to read a couple bits about affiliate marketing, and SEO and then take action.  Believe me, it will do you more harm than good.  There is such a learning curve that try to do too much all at once is just setting yourself up for failure.

Another thing that really helped me out was to keep working once you have a solid plan in place.  A plan could be anything to following your favourite Internet marketer’s blog to purchasing a blueprint for making money online.  Whichever path you choose to take remember that persistence and motivation is the key.

For those of you that are a little more advanced and do have a blueprint for what you are going to do.  Remember to keep moving everyday.  If that means writing two articles a day, monetising your pages, blog commenting, forum marketing, etc.  Keep doing it, don’t sit back and wait to be ranked number one on Google.  There are a number of online scams out there, and a lot of them are in the Internet marketing world.

Don’t check your web stats every fifteen minutes.  This will only discourage you.  In fact, check you affiliate sales, site traffic, and page ranking once a week.  The rest of the work you need to be putting in work.  Whether that is 1 hour a day or 16 hours a day, keep moving.

Believe me I am speaking from experience you have to stay persistent, and keep working at it everyday.  Once you have it down you can gear towards outsourcing and working that 1-3/hr day you have been dreaming of so long.  In fact, go to Amazon and pick up some books about people that are successful.  That always helped me when I was feeling worn out from working and wasn’t seeing too many sales.

Believe me persistence and motivation are key to making it in this affiliate marketing game.  It takes time so do not get discouraged.  The best feeling in the world is accomplishing something, so stop reading this post and get back to work!
