So, picture the scene, your worm farming website has been on the first page of google for the well searched for term, ‘Worm farming Secrets’ and you have been making steady sales of your worm ebook for the last 3 months. You have noticed that the sales have come to a grinding halt and on further investigation you find that you website is no where to be found on the google first page results and the other phrases that you are usually ranked for are nowhere to be seen.

Now you have two choices, you can rewrite all of the content on your pages, re build the website from scratch, start a pay per click campaign and basically start all over again.

Or you could do nothing. And that is precisely what I would do. If you become a slave to google I can absolutely assure you that you will never get a minutes peace. You will be constantly stressed out by any slight drop in the search engine rankings and your life will be governed by the latest rumours on the internet marketing forums about what will, and will not happen.

The best thing to do is just to sit back and give it a little while, it is more often the case that it is just a slight algorithm change and things will be back to normal with a matter of days. If your website or blog is not trying to pull any tricks or trying to deceive the search engines in any way then you won’t have any problems. Good solid content will mean that you have exactly the type of blog that the search engines are looking for.

When something like this does happen, which it does and on a regular basis, it just goes to show the advantages of not relying on one stream of income or in this case, not relying on one blog or website. If you have several blogs out there, each one on a different niche and monetised in different ways you will be in a far more favourable position. You may be promoting your own products, clickbank, affiliate products etc, etc. The more you have the less effect any negative search engine results will have on you and you will find that these stresses of the search engines will be something that doesn’t really effect you, and you will be able to ride out the storm with any of the search engine changes, safe in the knowledge that your blogs will even each other out during a drop in the rankings.

Going back to the original example, I have seen people who have had websites at the top of the search engine rankings only to see the the search results drop. The way they reacted was to basically change everything about their website in order to solve the problem. Unfortunately the opposite was true, if they had left it as it was they would have been back to normal within a couple of days but their panic caused the website to vanish off the face of the earth and resulted in many hours of work spread over a long period of time, getting it back to where it once was.
