Yes I Often Work Sundays – But I Also Often Work A Four Day Working Week

So, the weekend has arrived and my office working friends and family members are off. I may be a bit envious of them for having off each and every weekend and never having to work a Sunday. As a home based business worker, I am always on-call and able to attend to business – and sometimes that business needs to be attended to on the weekends, particularly because I work with people outside of my time zone. I don’t let the fact that you may have to work Saturday’s and Sunday’s get me down, though; I remember the pros of working from home and operating my own business – Yes, I often work Sundays, but I also often work a four day working week.

While I do often have to work Sundays, my weeks often only consist of four days that are devoted to work. Sometimes I may work Sunday, but I may be off Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. How many of my office working friends and family members can brag about that. When my friends and family members who have off on Sundays give me a little shake of the head, as if they pity the fact that I have to work on Sundays, I ask them if they have off on a Wednesday or Friday and then say something along the lines of, “Yes, I do have to work this Sunday, but I was off three days during this week. How many days off do you get a week?” When I say this to them, they smile, nod their heads and then often tell me that I am lucky to be able to enjoy the luxury of working from home and being able to be off three days a week on several occasions.

"working from home"

If you are a home based business owner, like myself, and you find that you are upset because you have to work on a Saturday or Sunday, while your friends and family members are out playing, keep your head up and remember the many perks that you experience working from home. If you are able to have off during the week, think of how nice it is to be able to go to the movies on a Tuesday afternoon when everyone else is working; remember how nice it is to go shopping on a Thursday morning while being able to avoid the crowds that often fill the stores during the weekends. I also remember that even though I do sometimes have to work on the weekends, I don’t always have to work on the weekends. Everything has its pros and cons, whether you work in an office or you operate your own home base business. For me, the pros of the latter far outweigh the pros of the former. I consider myself very lucky to be able to work from the comfort of my home and on my own time schedule – even if sometimes my work days are on the weekends. You take the good with the bad and I think being able to have off three days a week is certainly a good; no, a great thing.

  1. I often work quite late at night and at the weekend when my son is busy but I get to go out for lunch and on days out whenever I want so I am very happy with my working life. Graet reading. Thanks Samantha
